Amy Jade Winehouse was born on 14 September 1983 to Jewish parents Mitch and Janis in Southgate, London. Amy’s paternal grandmother Cynthia as a singer who dated English jazz saxophonist Ronnie Scott. Cynthia alongside Amy’s parents influenced Amy’s interest in jazz music.
