John Denver (1943-1997)
In 1969, the ‘Rocky Mountain High’ singer released one of his most iconic tracks ‘Leaving on a Jet Plane’. The lyrics say: "Cause I’m leavin’ on a jet plane. Don’t know when I’ll be back again.”
28 years later, the country music star died in a plane crash when his homebuilt aircraft, a Rutan Long-EZ, crashed in California. Denver, who was 53 at the time, was the only person on the plane.
