The Housemaid author Freida McFadden's upcoming novel The Divorce has been picked up by Studiocanal.

The thriller won't hit bookshelves until May 26, but it's already been confirmed the film studio will co-produce the adaptation with Working Title following a competitive book auction.

McFadden said in a statement: “I’m delighted to be working with the teams at Studiocanal and Working Title to bring The Divorce to the big screen.

“From the start, they have come forward with an unparalleled enthusiasm and a strong vision for how to get this project off the ground. I can’t wait to see what unfolds!”

The Divorce is the third of McFadden's novels to secure the big screen treatment.

Last year, The Housemaid was released starring Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried, while a sequel is due in December 2027 based on her book The Housemaid's Secret, with Kirsten Dunst joining the cast.

The Divorce has been described as a “razor-sharp thriller where love curdles into vengeance and survival becomes the most dangerous game of all".
