Speaking to BANG Showbiz at the TV Choice Awards at The London Hilton on Park Lane, Coronation Street star Sue Devaney says her father-in-law’s own Alzheimer's disease diagnosis has helped her portray her character Debbie Webster, who has been diagnosed with early on-set dementia in the soap.

Sue is proud to have been given the storyline and feels as though she has a responsibility to raise awareness of the condition and the realities of how it affects the person diagnosed with the syndrome as well as their loved ones.
