Kristin Cavallari thinks that she and her ex-husband Jay Cutler "were supposed to be together".

The 39-year-old star was married to the former Chicago Bears quarterback for seven years until 2020 and explained how she felt that the pair's romance was destiny when a listener on her Let's Be Honest podcast asked if they should give their relationship another crack after breaking off their engagement.

Kristin said: "You ended it for a reason. Should you move on? Probably.

"However, this is where my spiritual side comes in. If you do feel this crazy pull to this person - which, yes, I'm sure psychologists would call it a toxic bond, okay - but also from the spiritual sense, maybe it’s because there's a reason why you guys are supposed to be together and maybe there are more lessons that you have to learn."

The Very Cavallari star added: "Listen, that's where my logical mind and my spiritual mind sometimes battle, because it's like, should I sit here and tell you probably you should walk away? Yes.

"But I also know I was supposed to marry my ex-husband, and I was supposed to have three kids with him. That was my journey."

Kristin is adamant that she had a "soul contract" with Jay - with whom she has children Camden, 13, Jason, 11, and Saylor, 10 - and believes that there is a "lesson" to be learned from the failed marriage.

The Hills star said: "I actually think we probably decided that before we came to Earth.

"I think we had a soul contract and we were supposed to be together, and we broke up when we were engaged and we came back together, and I felt this crazy pull towards him. I couldn't make sense of it, but I knew I had to be with him even though I logically was like, he's probably not good for me. But on a deep, spiritual level, it was like I had to be with him."

Cavallari added: "So I think sometimes we know maybe someone is not good for us, but I think our soul knows that there's something we need to learn from this. There's a lesson. There's a reason why we're supposed to be with this person."
