Kevin Smith reveals which late Hollywood legend was his childhood crush
Kevin Smith has revealed which late Hollywood star he had a crush on as he reveals which actors he used to idolise growing up.
Kevin Smith used to have a crush on Carrie Fisher.
The 54-year-old director revealed that he lusted after the late 'Star Wars' actress - who died in December 2016 at the age 60 following a sudden cardiac arrest - when she was at the height of her fame as Princess Leia in the hit film series, and was thrilled to get the chance to work with her in the early days of his career.
He told this week's edition of UsWeekly: "My celebrity crush growing up was Carrie Fisher. I never married her — like 11-year-old me wanted — but I did get to work with her in 'Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back'."
Carrie's mother was Hollywood legend Debbie Reynolds - who was known for her roles in Golden Age films like 'Singin' in the Rain' and 'How the West Was Won' - but she died just days after her daughter at the age of 84 following a sudden stroke amid the Christmas period of 2016.
The 'Air' moviemaker is a big fan of the George Lucas-created franchise and admitted that he always "looked up" to a host of other actors from the series, as he joked that was because they were much taller than him at the time.
He added: "The actors I looked up to growing up were David Prowse and Peter Mayhew because they played Darth Vader and Chewbacca, respectively, in the 'Star Wars' movies. And because they were tall as f*** when I was a kid."
Meanwhile, Kevin revealed that he does have Ben Affleck's phone number but hinted that the Hollywood star has blocked him.
He said: "The most famous person in my phone book is Ben Affleck, but the most famous person in my phone book who hasn’t blocked me is Jason Mewes."
