Ryan Gosling loves the smell of dogs' paws.

The 43-year-old actor - who has Esmeralda, nine, and eight-year-old Amada with partner Eva Mendes - always finds canine feet smell of either popcorn or nachos but his beloved late pooch George had the "perfect blend" of both.

Answering quickfire questions on 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert', he said when asked his favourite smell: "It's hard not to give it to flowers on this one. They've been working on this for millions of years. You should give it to them. But I want to say dogs' paws."

Explaining he thinks dog paws smell of the snacks, he added: "And my dog George who is no longer with us he had the perfect blend. He was nachos and popcorn."

The 'Fall Guy' actor also admitted his partner is in control when it comes to their relationship.

Asked to describe the rest of his life in just five words, he said: "Run it by Eva first."

Ryan confessed to having a sweet tooth when asked the best sandwich.

He said: "Ice cream. Because you can have all the sandwiches in the world and it would be a tough decision. But the ice cream sandwich comes out, your mind is made up. Your decision is made for you."

Stephen then asked: "Do you lick around the edges?"

His guest quipped: "That is none of your business."

The 'Barbie' actor believes "man" is the scariest animal.

He explained: "Am I wrong? Or the mosquito. Kill more people than anything else."

But Ryan found it "tough" to choose between apples or oranges.

He said: "Oranges help with scurvy and I do not want that again. The apple, you can make a bong out of."

The 'Drive' star's favourite song is Salt-n-Pepa's 1987 hit 'Push It' and he claimed the lyrics contain "great life advice".

Stephen asked: "If you only get one song to listen to for the rest of your life. What is it?"

Ryan replied: "'Push It' by Salt-n-Pepa. It hasn't gotten old yet. And it's great life advice.

"Whatever it is, you know. Push it. And then if you're gonna do it, push it, push it really good."
