Jelly Roll feels "blessed" to be alive after his private jet malfunctioned in the air last week.

The 'Save Me' singer and his wife Bunnie XO were travelling to Austin, Texas, on Thursday (04.04.24) ahead of this weekend's CMT Music Awards when their aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing, and the 39-year-old star praised the pilot for getting them back to safety.

He explained to E! News on the red carpet of the awards ceremony at the Moody Center in Austin on Sunday (07.04.24): "What happened was the screen cut out.

"The pilot was like, 'I'm not even risking this.' He had to manually fly the plane back. He had to fly like it was the 1960s again. He was shooken."

Of the pilot's skills, he added: "It was incredible. We're blessed."

Meanwhile, the 'Son of Sinner' singer expressed his amazement at how far his music career has come in a short time.

Speaking before he picked up three prizes at the ceremony, equalling his 2023 haul,he said: "I made my award show debut a year ago, and I showed up here kind of a stranger. And I came back a year later like family."

Jelly Roll and Bunnie had revealed their flight ordeal on TikTok last week.

The 'Dumb Blonde' podcast host said in the clip: "Our plane we were on just stopped mid air and turned around for an emergency landing."

The 44-year-old beauty showed footage of the pilot speaking to their group inside the plane and later, of her husband walking around in a waiting room.

The singer said: "They turned the plane around. They said it's an issue with the computer."

His wife continued: "And they want us to get back on it."

But the pair were able to look on the bright side.

Jelly Roll noted: "At least it wasn't the brakes."

Bunnie shared another TikTok video of herself and their group sitting in the plane.

She wrote: "When the private jet you're in just stopped mid-air, turned around and said we had to emergency land because of a malfunction."

Asked if they were OK by a fan, she replied: "We're good baby but that was scary."
