Cynthia Nixon still has Sex and the City outfits in her wardrobe
Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon has revealed she kept plenty of items from her time as Miranda Hobbs.
Cynthia Nixon has revealed "maybe a third" of her wardrobe is from Sex and the City.
The 60-year-old star played Miranda Hobbs on the iconic show, which ended in 2004 after six seasons, and she has admitted a lot of her outfits are made up of items she took from the set.
Speaking on the red carpet at the Emmys, she said: "You know, they let us have anything that we want."
Cynthia admitted "maybe a third" of her clothes are from Miranda's closet, adding: "It's great!"
However, the same can't be said for her recent turn as Ada Brook in HBO period drama The Gilded Age, which is set in 1880s New York City.
Asked if she's kept anything, she quipped: "Maybe some gloves. That's about it. It's not the kind of thing you could go to the Duane Reade in.
"The gloves are great."
Meanwhile, Cynthia's Sex and the City co-star Sarah Jessica Parker previously revealed she still has her costumes still in storage from all six seasons and both movies.
She told Vogue magazine back in December 2021: "I had all of the original stuff in my own storage. Furniture, clothes, everything, packed according to season and episode and scene."
She added: "I kept every single solitary thing."
Sarah has also admitted she even dips into her collection from playing Carrie Bradshaw.
Last year, she revealed she picked something from her character's wardrobe for a birthday party in England.
She told PEOPLE magazine: "I just did it."
But she stressed it was “one of the few occasions I’ve ever pulled from the archive for personal use”.
She also emphasised she is “very thoughtful” when making such decisions, and considers the appropriateness and safety of the occasion to ensure the preservation of the garments.
The fashion legacy of Sex and the City and its spinoffs has been a defining element since the series' original run from 1998 to 2004, its two follow-up films, and most recently the revival series And Just Like That..., which concluded its latest season in August 2025.
Throughout all the projects, fashion has played a significant role for Sarah and Cynthia, as well as their co-stars Kristin Davis (Charlotte York) and Kim Cattrall (Samantha Jones).
