Sacha Baron Cohen has reportedly wrapped a new Ali G movie after filming in secret.

The 54-year-old star, who is known for his work on the likes of 2006's Borat and its 2020 sequel Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, is set to revive one of his most beloved characters, who previously appeared in 2002's Ali G Indahouse.

As reported by The InSneider, the rude boy interviewer is making a return, after he was most recently seen on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in 2024.

It's said filming has been completed, while the project has been in development since before the 2023 Hollywood writers' strike.

At this point, it's not known if the mysterious project will hit streaming or the big screen.

The outlet's Jeff Sneider teased: "Ali G also spends a good deal of time in the circus that is America in this mysterious new project, which remains untitled and has no release date as of now."

The hip-hop influenced character has interviewed a lot of high profiles names over the years, including Donald Trump before he became president.

He was appeared on Channel 4's The 11 O'clock Show, before landing his own Da Ali G Show in the early 2000s.

A spokesperson for Baron Cohen has declined to comment.

The actor did revive Ali G in 2023, when he made a surprise appearance at The Comedy Store in Sydney, Australia.

At the time, he told GQ: "I just wanted to get on stage and muck around and see what Ali G would be like with a crowd. It was really good fun.”

He admitted that he would be keen to bring the alter ego back for more, and there were reports of a live tour which didn't materialise.

Baron Cohen added: "Yes, I think I would. Because the reason I became a comedian was that I loved people laughing at my jokes.”

As well as his outrageous characters like Borat, Ali G and Bruno, Cohen has also appeared in the likes of Hugo and Les Miserables, while he was most recently seen in Netflix comedy Ladies First.

While Ali G is primed for a comeback, the same can't be said of fictional Kazakhstani journalist Borat, who appears to have been retired after Baron Cohen was chased by a pro-gun mob.

In 2024, the actor told the SmartLess podcast: "The last one became so extreme. After that gun rally, I was essentially on the run.

"I had a militia kind of following me. I was going from safe house to safe house for about four days. It became so crazy that you realise there's a certain amount of skill and preparation, but also you're going to be lucky. And at some point, your luck runs out."

Baron Cohen said the experience had left him so shaken that he didn’t want to reprise the role out of concerns for his wellbeing.

He continued: "I think the danger element meant I just didn't want to do it again. I felt I had to do it for that election. I had to do it. I was terrified about what's going to happen."
