Alana Stewart has lost a 'long-time' friendship because of her support for Donald Trump
Alana Stewart has revealed that one on her longest friendships has come to an end as a result of her support for US President Donald Trump.
Alana Stewart has lost a "long-time good friend" because of her support for Donald Trump.
The 81-year-old star is a vocal advocate for the US President and took to social media to detail the "shocking" conversation she had with a once-close pal who informed her that their friendship was over because of her political leanings.
Alana - who was married to music legend Sir Rod Stewart from 1979 to 1984 - wrote on social media platform X: "I just had the most surprising experience of having a long-time good friend of mine tell me that she couldn't be my friend anymore because she can't be around anyone who supports Trump.
"It's so shocking and sad to me that some people can actually give up a friendship because of someone's political views."
Alana explained that she had "never even discussed" the subject of politics with her former friend.
The actress and author said: "I know our views are so different. I mostly discuss my political views with like-minded people.
"I never post anything political on Instagram, but do on X. I'm not a rabid Trump supporter who loves everything he does or says, but all in all I think he's done a lot of good things for the country and certainly better than the last administration."
Alana added: "Most of us who voted for him wanted the border closed and illegals deported, especially criminals. The left seems to have a terrible problem with that and thinks it's cruel. Rather, we should just support anyone who wants to come to this country and pay for their schooling, medical bills, welfare, housing, etc. That doesn't make any sense to anyone except for crazy liberals."
The Love Boat star - who was also married to actor George Hamilton during the 1970s - praised Trump, 80, for achieving "so much" during his second White House term.
She wrote: "He's gotten so much done during his term, taking away tax on tips has been tremendously helpful to working people and taxes on Social Security for the seniors.
"The left loves to call him a fascist. That's their buzz word, just like calling someone a racist."
Alana continued: "Conservatives would never end a long friendship because someone's political views were different. It just makes me shake my head."
