Bradley Cooper confirmed to direct and star in Ocean's 11 prequel
Warner Bros. have confirmed that Bradley Cooper will write, direct and star alongside Margot Robbie in the upcoming prequel to Ocean's 11.
Bradley Cooper will write, direct and star in the Ocean's 11 prequel.
The 51-year-old star's rumoured involvement in the heist film was confirmed by Warner Bros. chiefs Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy at CinemaCon on Tuesday (14.04.26), who revealed that he will be appearing alongside Margot Robbie in the movie.
The Ocean's 11 prequel is slated for release in June 2027 and will mark Bradley's fourth directorial effort – following on from A Star Is Born, Maestro and Is This Thing On?.
The Hangover actor will also produce alongside Margot's LuckyChap banner.
Robbie made a virtual appearance during the presentation in Las Vegas, where she explained that the film will centre on Danny Ocean's (played by George Clooney in Steven Soderbergh's trilogy) parents and will be set at the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix.
The 35-year-old star said: "Before Danny Ocean ever stepped foot in Vegas, two masterminds taught him everything he knows: his parents. You'll see them in all their prime in our new movie, pulling off an epic heist at the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix."
Cooper's announcement as director comes after the previously attached Lee Isaac Chung left the movie due to "creative differences" last month.
A Warner Bros. spokesperson said: "This is an amicable split due to creative differences."
In a joint statement, Warner Bros. and LuckyChap added: "Lee Isaac is a singular filmmaking talent whose vision and partnership have been invaluable to Warner Bros. and LuckyChap throughout this journey.
"Our experience with him has only deepened our enthusiasm to collaborate on future projects together."
Clooney previously explained that he was looking forward to watching the Ocean's prequel "as a fan" but stressed that he has no creative involvement in the flick.
He told Entertainment Tonight: "They're gonna play my parents.
"They're all very gifted and talented, and they'll all figure it out. I get to go and watch as a fan."
The Jay Kelly star confirmed last year that he and the likes of Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Don Cheadle will be filming Ocean's 14 at some point in 2026.
Clooney told E! News: "We just got the budget approved at Warner Bros. and we’re trying to set up.
"It’s just scheduling, so it’s just setting a start date for us. Probably start in about nine or 10 months, shooting."
George suggested that Ocean's 14 should feature a heist at the Louvre, following the theft of over $100 million worth of jewels from the Paris museum last October.
The 64-year-old actor said: "I think we should rob the Louvre. But somebody's already done it, man, I dunno...
"I was amazed that it was in the middle of broad daylight. Insane. But every place gets robbed, I guess."
