Hannah Waddingham loves playing powerful women - but she has no interest in becoming the next James Bond.

The 51-year-old actress has enjoyed enormous success in recent years, and Hannah has now revealed what draws her to playing particularly strong, independent characters.

The actress - who shot to international stardom playing Rebecca Welton in the hit Apple comedy series Ted Lasso - explained to People: "It’s their truth, it’s who they are in the quiet, that’s what gets me first."

The movie star subsequently explained that her "interest is piqued by who they are when they're alone, and the foibles and the fears and the aspirations they have when they're alone".

Despite her love of playing strong characters, Hannah insists she has no interest in replacing Daniel Craig as James Bond.

The Hollywood star believes the role of Bond - who has also been played by the likes of Pierce Brosnan, Timothy Dalton, Sir Sean Connery and Sir Roger Moore - should go to a man instead.

She said: "A woman doesn't need to play James Bond, we've got other things to do."
