Love Island's Simba Kudyiwa has revealed his mum was rushed to hospital after suffering a health scare on her birthday.
In a video posted on TikTok on Wednesday (14.10.26), the reality star explained that he and his girlfriend Angelista Gunda, both 25, who finished third on the ITV2 matchmaking show this year, had planned to surprise his mum with a Sunday roast and a cake.
However, the celebrations were put on hold after Simba's mum fell ill, prompting the family to call an ambulance.
He added: "Then me and Angie made our way to the hospital. Both of us are quite familiar with hospital settings, given that we both worked in healthcare."
The neurological rehabilitation assistant noted that he and nurse Angelista were still at the hospital at 3am.
He later reassuring worried fans that his mum was "all good" and would "be home soon, God willing".
The reality star admitted he was initially reluctant to share his mum's health scare in the video.
He explained: "Things started happening; she was feeling unwell, she was in distress. I thought, 'You know what, yeah, I'm not going to post this.'
"But, you know, this is reality. This is real life. And I wanna do my best, you know, to show people their realness, but also, obviously, like, preserve a level of privacy.
"I think the main reason that I’ve carried on recording this, and the main reason I posted this, is because I wanna be the person that I needed when I was a kid.
"And I’m never gonna stop saying this. I’m never, ever gonna stop saying this, because it means so much to me."
Simba hopes that by sharing difficult moments in his life, he can encourage others to be open about their struggles.
He said: "We’ve all got - we’ve all got adversity. We’re all dealing with something. And it’s one thing saying it, but it’s another thing showing it and living it. And that’s what I’m gonna do.
"Love."
Simba captioned the video: "Things didn't go as planned, but that happens sometimes.
"All is well, we keep smiling bares, keep working, and we go again next year."
Fans rushed to the post's comments section to wish Simba's mum well, and to praise his honesty.
