Joel Dommett reveals top TV moment of 2026 but 'Ant and Dec would disagree'
Joel Dommett doesn't think I'm A Celebrity hosts Ant and Dec would agree with his favourite TV moment of the year.
Joel Dommett thinks I'm a Celebrity... South Africa's most controversial moment was the pinnacle of live television.
The 41-year-old comedian, who is returning to host the National Television Awards on September 8, has reflected on his favourite TV moments of the year, and he loved seeing the fallout from Adam Thomas rows with David Haye and Jimmy Bullard.
The final of the reality show was broadcast live, as tensions from filming spilled over into chaotic scenes on air.
Joel told Radio Times magazine: "Ant and Dec would disagree, I think my favourite show that I watched on telly was the I'm a Celebrity... South Africa reunion show.
"I just thought it was the most LIVE live telly has ever felt in 20 years. It felt so exciting. I don't know anyone that wasn't like, 'You've got to watch this on telly now.'"
Joel admitted he's loved rewatching the jaw dropping moment.
He added: "It's unbelievable watching it back. You're like, 'This is incredibly telly' and it feels live."
He was also a huge fan of The Celebrity Traitors late last year, with viewers getting behind the likes of Alan Carr and Joe Marler.
He said: "The other one I'd say is Celebrity Traitors.
"That was such a massive cultural shift where we were all really invested in Alan [Carr] and Joe Marler.
"It just captured the night like Mr Bates vs The Post Office. It's those cultural moments that really capture everybody and everyone gets dragged along the way."
Joel recently stepped down as host of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! spin-off show I'm a Celebrity... Unpacked to spend more time with his family, though he has admitted he rarely thinks he gets his work/life balance right.
He told Digital Spy: "Every day is a different day and trying to figure out what your work-life balance is, is really hard.
"And if you're someone who's cracked it, then fair play to you. But I don't think anyone feels like they get it right, and I certainly don't, and I'm really, really trying my best to.
"It's just about trying to figure out what's important. When you get to David Attenborough's age, you want to know that you can look back and go, ‘Oh, I worked the right amount, I challenged myself the right amount, and I also saw my family enough and the right amount too’, and getting all of those plates spinning at the right speed is really difficult.
"I'm trying to get better at it, and hopefully I am, but it's tough. It's really tough."
