Alex Jones recalls Bonnie Tyler accidentally using dog-pee tea towel on mugs
Alex Jones said the funny moment unfolded when she interviewed Bonnie Tyler at the late legendary singer's home in Swansea, Wales.
Alex Jones said Bonnie Tyler accidentally used the same tea towel she had used to clean up her dog's pee to wipe mugs just minutes later.
The hilarious moment unfolded when Alex, 49, interviewed the "just lovely" Total Eclipse of the Heart hitmaker at the late legendary singer's home in Swansea, Wales.
She told Vernon Kay, 52, on his BBC Radio 2 Tracks Of My Years show: "Way before The One Show, I went to interview her in her house in Swansea. She used to live in a beautiful house overlooking the sea.
"I rang the doorbell, and she went, 'Hiya love, come in. Just watch there because the dog’s peed all over the hall,' and she went, 'Hang on a minute, stay where you are.'
"She went to get a tea towel from the kitchen, popped it on the floor, sort of stood on it and then went, 'There you are, lovely.'
"Then half an hour later we went to have a cup of tea in the kitchen, and she used the same tea towel - I think she’d just forgotten - to wipe all the mugs.
"But that’s why we love her."
Bonnie died at the age of 75 on July 8, weeks after she was placed into an induced coma following emergency intestinal surgery in Portugal.
A message posted on the Holding Out for a Hero artist's website read: "Bonnie's family and team are heartbroken to announce that Bonnie unexpectedly passed away last night in hospital in Portugal as a result of the illness that she was being treated for.
"We will issue a further statement shortly but for now ask for privacy to deal with this tragedy."
She is survived by her husband of more than 50 years, Robert Sullivan.
Bonnie - real name Gaynor Hopkins - was placed into an induced coma in May, but on June 15, it was revealed she had woken up, though she remained "seriously ill".
Her representative said: "Bonnie is no longer in a coma, but remains seriously ill.
"Although her condition is improving, the recovery process is slow."
At the time, it was reported she was expected to make a full recovery.
The Here She Comes performer had surgery on May 6, and it was initially reported to have gone well.
A statement on her website read at the time: "We are very sorry to announce that Bonnie has been admitted to hospital in Faro, Portugal, where she has a home, for emergency intestinal surgery. The surgery went well, and she is now recuperating.
"We know that all of her family, friends, and fans will be concerned about this news and will be wishing her well for a full and swift recovery."
But the following day, it was confirmed she had been put into a coma by doctors to "aid her recovery".
