Richard E. Grant immediately called Celia Imrie upon finding out he was going to be on Celebrity Traitors.

The 69-year-old actor is just one of the famous faces set to appear on the second series of the BBC show, hosted by Claudia Winkleman.

In an interview on The One Show, Richard admitted he wasted no time in getting some tips from Celia, who appeared in the first series of the star-studded spinoff.

He said: “We've known each other for 40 years. I said, 'Celia, what is the thing you can't be prepared for?'

“She said 'The cruelty of people who you instinctively want to trust, in a room like this and suddenly every single person suspects you.' And I think that's a very accurate thing to have said.”

Realising he might have messed up by making a revelation about the show, which only finished shooting recently, he then said: “I’ve already said too much!"

Meanwhile, Richard also admitted that his daughter Olivia didn’t think he’d do too well on the programme when she found out about his casting, saying she thought he wasn’t “going to last more than about four nanoseconds".

He laughed: "She and all her friends to their credit said 'You are incapable of hiding what you feel about anything in life'."

Host Alex Jones then asked if he thought his daughter was right, to which Richard replied: “I have no idea... I've been hypnotised, and I value my knees and I don't want BBC security to come and break them!"

The second series of Celebrity Traitors also stars Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Miranda Hart, Rob Beckett and James Blunt.

A release date has yet to be confirmed, but it’s expected to air this autumn.

Richard’s admission comes after Celia said her kids were also somewhat miffed when they found out she was going to be on the show.

She told BBC Radio Sussex as the series aired that her son had said she would be “embarrassing”, adding: “And of course I was, rather!”

One of Celia’s most memorable moments on the show was when she accidentally farted during a high-tension task - leaving her castmates in hysterics.
