Emmy Awards: Allison Janney equals all-time record
Allison Janey tied the record for most Emmys won by a performer on Monday (14.09.26) night as she took home her eighth prize.

The 66-year-old actress' portrayal of US President Grace Penn in The Diplomat saw her take home her eighth award at the annual event, scooping the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series prize and matching the record previously set by Julia Louis Dreyfus and Cloris Leachman and also equalled earlier in the evening by Hacks' Jean Smart.
Visibly stunned, she said on stage at Los Angeles' Peacock Theater: “This is not what I planned for this category at all.
“I’m very surprised and very, very grateful to be here. I thank all the members of the Television Academy. And of course I have to thank Debra Kahn who is our writer. So much fun. And Alex Gray, our director, who I adore, and Janice Williams, and the coolest woman on the planet, Keri Russell, who leads us all every day. And Rufus [Sewell], the entire cast is divine.
"I am so grateful and so lucky. And I thank you very much from the bottom of my heart.”
Allison took the prize ahead of The Pitt's Taylor Dearden, Fiona Dourif, Katherine LaNasa, and Sepideh Moafi, and Julianne Nicholson (Paradise), Karolina Wydra (Pluribus).
Meanwhile, Tom Pelphrey took the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series prize for playing Robbie Prendergrast in Task and he paid a heartfelt tribute to pregnant wife Kaley Cuoco, who he hailed this "favourite actor in this room."
Tom - who scooped the award ahead of The Pitt's Patrick Ball, Shawn Hatosy, and Gerran Howell, as well as The Morning Show's Billy Crudup, Slow Horses' Jack Lowden and Carlos-Manuel Vesga from Pluribus - said: "This is incredible, thank you. I thank God for my life and my sobriety. I think my family and friends for all your love and support all these years. Thank you to HBO, thank you to our cast especially Raul, Emilia and my friend the beautiful Mark Ruffalo...
"To my favourite actor in this room, my love, my friend, my partner, the very pregnant Kaley Cuoco, I love you more than anything, Matilda, daddy love you, baby girl in that belly, daddy loves you."
