Kate Garraway’s Life Stories is facing the axe.

The 59-year-old presenter has only fronted seven episodes of the ITV chat show since taking over from her former Good Morning Britain colleague Piers Morgan as host in 2022 and it is said to be unclear whether the programme - which last aired over a year ago - will be returning to screens.

An insider told The Sun newspaper: “When Piers was fronting Life Stories it was on our screens constantly for 12 years - often with two series a year.

“But the last time we saw Kate fronting a whole series was in 2023, and ITV haven’t given any indication when, if ever, the show will return.

“Kate has been busy maintaining her day job, as well as making several award-winning documentaries and, of course, she appeared on the BBC’s The Celebrity Traitors last year.”

However, ITV insists that Life Stories hasn’t been dropped and that Kate will be back for more episodes “if the guest was right”.

Garraway’s last outing on the programme was a one-off interview with Jeremy Kyle in April 2025, whilst previous series saw her in conversation with stars such as football legend John Barnes, Strictly Come Dancing judge Anton Du Beke and comic Ruby Wax.

Piers, 61, hosted Life Stories for over 100 episodes from 2009 until 2021 and conducted interviews with the likes of music legend Sir Elton John, the late James Bond actor Sir Roger Moore and Baywatch icon Pamela Anderson.

Kate revealed that she was looking forward to getting an in-depth insight into her guests when she took over as host of the show.

She said at the time: "I’ve always loved having the chance to talk to people, both on air and off.

"Everyone has a story to tell and the wonderful thing about this show is that you have the airtime to delve into the areas of guests lives that the viewers might not know about already.

"It’s also a chance to understand more about the bits we do already know about, both good and bad, and hear it in their own words."

Prior to taking over from Piers, Kate was interviewed by him in his last-ever Life Stories, after he quit the programme to join News Corp's new channel talkTV.

Kate previously told how Piers "delved all over the place" into her background when interviewing her on the show.

She said: “He delved all over the place, he delved into my past, exes, career stuff. He has a massive, massive research team.”
