Joanna Page is "too knackered" to have sex.

The 49-year-old actress wants to get naughty in the bedroom with her husband, actor James Thornton, 50, but juggling a heavy workload with parenting four children, as well as having an underactive thyroid, has sucked all the energy out of her.

Joanna's biggest wellbeing tip is "having sex", and the Gavin and Stacey alum added in the new issue of Woman magazine: "Although I've got four kids - I should be having more sex, but I'm too knackered!

"But you should have a load of sex. If you're tense, half the time it's because you just need to go out, get p*****, have a dance, and a really good sh*g!

"So, getting drunk but also drinking loads of water, having loads of sex, but still getting a really good night's sleep, and then doing something for yourself."

Joanna has switched from acting to presenting because of how young her and James' children, Eva, 12, and Boe, four, and sons Kit, 10, and Noah, nine, are.

Although the host of BBC's Shift the Thrift loves the change in her career - not ruling out an acting return - Joanna's ultimate goal is to "train" as a "sex therapist".

She told an October issue of Woman magazine: "I'd like to train as a sex therapist, it's something I've wanted to do for years."

In 2013, Joanna told Wales Online how she felt "so drained" after doing simple household tasks.

The Love Actually entertainer said: "I constantly felt like I was in slow motion all the time. I just had no energy. I'd get out of bed, load the washing machine, and then be so drained I'd have to sit around staring into space for the rest of the day.

"I was continually freezing cold. I'd have the central heating on full blast, be wearing three layers of clothing including thermals, and my husband James would have to walk around in shorts because it was so hot in the house."

After a trip to the doctors, Joanna was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid, and she needs to take medication for the rest of her life to avoid the symptoms coming "roaring back".

According to the National Health Service (NHS), an underactive thyroid is a "common condition where the thyroid gland in your neck does not make enough hormones".

It can trigger symptoms such as fatigue, feeling cold, and weight gain.

An underactive thyroid can be treated with medicine, usually levothyroxine tablets.
