Joanna Page fears eyeball explosion and 'nerve damage' after whacked by daughter's ankle
Gavin and Stacey star Joanna Page feared her eyeball had exploded and is worried about possible "nerve damage" after her young daughter accidentally struck her eye while they were in bed.
Joanna Page feared her eyeball exploded and is now panicking about having "nerve damage" after her daughter's ankle struck the star's eye.
Boe, four, forcefully lowered her leg and accidentally thumped the Gavin and Stacey alum's left eye as they shared a bed for a night a couple of weeks ago.
Appearing on the latest episode of 39-year-old Rosie and Chris Ramsey's Sh**ged. Married. Annoyed. podcast, Joanna, 49, recalled: "I'm still having problems with my left eye. If I move my face down, I feel like I've got nerve damage.
"I was lying on my back in the bed, and Boe was horizontal, and she was on her back. And she lifted her foot up, and with her ankle, she went BOOM! Flat down and her full ankle socket and foot, just literally the ball of it went BOOM! And got me right on the eyeball.
"And I woke up and was like, 'Oh my God,' in complete and utter shock; it was agony. I could feel it, and it felt really wet, so I think it was weeping.
"But I just thought, 'She's just burst my eyeball.' And I bet if I open my eye, there's gonna be all of that black stuff, which is inside an eyeball, coming down my face. There wasn't."
Joanna "couldn't move" her eye the next morning, which sparked her fear of suffering with "nerve damage".
The Love Actually cast member added: "And now I keep moving [the eye] down and it feels quite thick under there, like I've got nerve damage."
Joanna joked that she does not care if she loses her sight in one eye.
The Nativity 2: Danger in the Manger actress quipped: "I sort of came to terms with it, and I was moving my eye around, and I was going, 'Well, do you know what? I'm so exhausted that if I go blind, I go blind, and it's just something we're gonna have to get on with.'
"That's where my mental state is right now."
As well as Boe, Joanna has another daughter called Eva, 13, as well as sons Kit, 10, and nine-year-old Noah, with her 50-year-old husband, James Thornton - whom she married in 2003, four years after they met on the set of the BBC drama, David Copperfield.
