The beloved Patterdale terrier mix was a beloved member of the BBC show, having joined in 2020 to accompany comedians Bob Mortimer, 66, and Paul Whitehouse, 67, on their fishing adventures.
Lisa Clark, Executive Producer, and Ted’s owner, said: "Ted was a much-loved family pet as well as a treasured companion to Paul and Bob on Gone Fishing.
"He took fame in his little stride and loved nothing better than messing around on the riverbanks, nicking jammy dodgers from Bob and bait from Paul.
"He will be sorely missed both at home and on screen. We’ll never forget him. He is survived at home by Bo the Briard."
Bob and Paul paid heartfelt tributes to the pooch.
Bob said: "So very, very sad. Lovely Ted, the best companion and the greatest little chum. Going to miss him so much.. and away boss."
Paul added: "Bye bye, Ted, old friend. He wasn’t a dog; he was a species all of his own. He’s gone to the great briefcase emporium in the sky. We will really miss you, mate.”
Ted was rescued from a dog’s home in Surrey in 2013 when he was six months old, and Lisa took him in.
He made his Gone Fishing debut in 2020, and he quickly became a fan favourite.
Ted even had his own Instagram page, which also shared a tribute following his death.
It read: "Sad news about our little Ted 2013-2026. Always loved, never forgotten… and away, little fella."
His celebrity fans also paid tribute, as comedienne Diane Morgan, 50, penned: "Oh god, this has me welling up! What an amazing little character he was. Sending love to his family for giving him such an incredible life xx (sic)."
Former BBC Radio 2 host Zoe Ball, 55, typed: "Oh no Ted. thank you for the magic little fella. heart goes out to his family + the show team. (sic)"
And ITV News anchor Lucrezia Millarini, 50, wrote: "Such a little legend. Such a pleasure to have met him. Sending all our love. Especially from Milo."
Ted makes his final appearance in Gone Fishing during a series nine episode.
