Bob Mortimer and Richard Ayoade reuniting for new Netflix game show
Last One Laughing UK finalists Bob Mortimer and Richard Ayoade have signed on for absurd new series.
Bob Mortimer and Richard Ayoade have been cast in a new Netflix comedy game show.
The streaming giant has announced plans for Hot Or Cold, which will feature teams of celebrities working their way through a labyrinth of rooms where they're faced with a challenge to complete against the clock, but they have no idea what it is they have to do.
Netflix teased: "Bob Mortimer and Richard Ayoade lead an all-star line-up of celebrities in HOT OR COLD, a new unscripted series set inside mysterious rooms with challenges that appear to make no sense.
"Their only guide is the room itself, which glows red when they’re getting warmer and blue when they’re getting colder."
The six-episode series will reunite Bob and Richard, who faced off in the final of Prime Video's Last One Laughing UK in 2025.
Bob said: "Spending time with Richard Ayoade is one of my all-time favourite things to do. Closely followed by playing Hot or Cold, so this has worked out brilliantly."
Richard quipped: "Although I prefer mild temperatures, it’s been instructive to participate in something as binary as this."
And Chris Cohen, executive producer at Zeppotron, hailed the two stars as "two of Britain's best".
He added: "I've spent my entire career in telly walking into rooms and having no idea what's going on, so it's a delight to work with Netflix and finally make a show with that exact premise.
"We are thrilled to have two of Britain's best in Bob and Richard at the heart of it all."
Further details, including the full lineup and release date, will be revealed at a later point.
Richard can currently be seen in Taskmaster, where he is competing with Chloe Petts, Isy Suttie, Matt Lucas and Nina Conti.
Earlier this year, he appeared as a team captain opposite Joanne McNally on Ed Gable's Unacceptable series for TLC, which will return for a Christmas special later this year.
He told Metro: "The line-up between hosts and team captains is so funny to me, because I don’t think you’d see any of us in a room outside of the show."
Ed admitted to being particularly distant from Richard, as the comedian explained he doesn't know what his co-star really thinks of him because he can't "read" him.
He said: "I still don’t know how to read Richard, and I don’t think he knows how to read me, but that’s hilarious, and I think that’s why it works."
