Jake Wood honours Dame Barbara Windsor with art exhibition
Soap star Jake Wood has announced plans to host an art exhibition.
Jake Wood is launching his first art exhibition in support of Dementia UK.
The 53-year-old actor has announced that the upcoming event will honour Dame Barbara Windsor, his former EastEnders co-star, who passed away in December 2020, aged 83, after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2014.
Jake's announcement read: "Exhibition Announcement — Jake Wood: ICONS Indelible Fine Art presents an invite-only exhibition from actor and artist Jake Wood.
"ICONS introduces a new body of work celebrating defining figures in British culture - people who have shaped identity, history, and public memory.
"At the centre of the exhibition, timed alongside VE Day, is Winston Churchill - a figure deeply tied to both national history and Brighton itself.
"The exhibition also supports Dementia UK, a cause close to Jake's heart following the experience of his close friend and co-star Barbara Windsor.
"It's a reminder of the very real human stories behind public figures - and the importance of continued support and research."
Meanwhile, Ross Kemp - who delivered the eulogy at Barbara's funeral - previously revealed that he has a special memento of Barbara in his office to remember his beloved friend.
The 61-year-old actor - who played Grant Mitchell, Barbara's on-screen son, in EastEnders - described his former co-star as "timeless".
He said: "I have a picture of her in my office, she gave that picture to me virtually when I first met her.
"It’s of her in her twenties, it has a special message.
"She’s timeless, we are very flippant, transient and in a disposable kind of time, sadly, as you can see by all the plastic that washes up in the ocean, but she is pretty timeless."
Ross is also keen to ensure that Barbara's memory will "carry on" in the coming years.
The actor - who first joined EastEnders in 1990 - said: "I hope that people will carry on remembering what a great person she was."
