Jake Wood urges calls for help after EastEnders colleague plunges 11-stories and left in coma
Jake Wood has appealed to EastEnders fans to donate to a GoFundMe for Connor, an electrician on the BBC soap who survived a 11-storey fall in Colombia, as his family races to cover £26,000 in urgent medical bills following multiple life-saving surgeries.
EastEnders' Jake Wood has urged fans to help a colleague cover his medical bills after he plunged from an 11-storey building.
Connor, who works on the set of the BBC soap as an electrician, spent nine days in a coma and underwent multiple life-saving surgeries following the accident in Colombia over Christmas, with his mum Denise saying it was a "miracle" he survived.
Now, his family is desperately trying to raise £26,000 to cover Connor's medical costs and to get him home.
Jake - who plays Max Branning on EastEnders - shared his GoFundMe crowdfunding page to Instagram Stories on Tuesday (06.01.26), and penned: "Connor, one of our work colleagues who works as an electrician on the set, has had a terrible accident over Christmas in Colombia, falling 11 floors from a roof and was in a coma for nine days.
"It's a miracle that he has survived. He has a family and his mum has flown out to be with him. (sic)"
Jake continued: "Here is the link to a GoFundMe page that has been set up in his name as money is desperately needed to pay for medical bills and to hopefully get him home.
"He is a top man and respected by everyone here who works at the studios. Please help if you can thank you. (sic)"
According to the donations section on Connor's GoFundMe page, Scott Maslen (Jack Branning) donated £300, while Jake and Jacqueline Jossa (Lauren Branning) gave £200.
Jessie Wallace (Kat Slater), Gillian Wright (Jean Slater), Adam Woodyatt (Ian Beale), Colin Salmon (George Knight), Gillian Taylforth (Kathy Beale), Emma Barton (Honey Mitchell), Harriet Thorpe (Elaine Peacock), Pierre Moullier (Oscar Branning), Francesca Henry (Gina Knight) all gave £100.
Clair Norris (Bernadette Taylor) donated £50, and Jaden Ladega (Denzel Danes) gave £5.
So far, £22,900 has been raised of a £26,000 target.
According to the description on Connor's GoFundMe page, the family does not know if he will receive an insurance payout or how long that process will take.
Page organiser Victoria Dean gave an update on January 2, sharing that Denise is by his side.
It read: "After 9 days in a coma, he is now off of mechanical ventilation and breathing with minimal support.
"He remains in ICU and is still under light sedation, but is aware that Denise is there and is responding to her. He was due to have another surgery today, but this has been delayed, and we are hoping to get a date for next week.
"Thank you so much for all of your support, it really means the world to all of us. Love from Denise and family Xxxx (sic)."
