Eamonn Holmes is doing his "best to get well" after suffering a stroke.

It was announced on Saturday (11.04.26) that the GB News presenter is recuperating in hospital after falling ill last week and now Eamonn has returned to social media to share a sweet picture of his two granddaughters holding up a sign which reads: "Get well soom [sic]."

In a post on Instagram, Eamonn made a cheeky nod to the youngsters' spelling error and vowed to get better. He wrote: "As my beautiful Granddaughters put it so well - I will do my best to get well SOOM.

"Thank you for all of your many many good wishes, they give me strength."

It comes after it was revealed Eamonn is being supported by his partner Katie Alexander, who has been a constant presence at his bedside.

A friend told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: "It's been a terrifying time. Eamonn fell ill at home and those close to him have been worried sick ever since. "Fortunately, Eamonn's on the road to recovery. Katie has been by his side in hospital pretty much all of the time, except to get a change of clothes at home.

"She loves him dearly and is doing all she can to help. Everyone is just praying he'll be back home soon."

Another pal added: "Katie has been praying for Eamonn every day. She’s beside herself after an incredibly emotional and rollercoaster week.

"She’s been to church to pray in solitude. She’s a devout Christian and is in shock after spending so much quality time with Eamonn over the Easter weekend."

A spokesperson for GB News stated that Eamonn, 66, had asked for "privacy" as he recovers and explained that he will return to the channel's breakfast show, which he hosts alongside Ellie Costello, when is "ready".

They said: "Eamonn has asked for privacy as he focuses on getting better. His colleagues and everyone at GB News wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to welcoming him back to the people’s channel when he is ready to return."

GB News chief executive Angelos Frangopoulos added: "Eamonn is a loved member of the GB News family, and we’re with him every step of the way as he recovers."

The channel stated that Alex Armstrong, who normally anchors an evening programme, would present the breakfast show with Costello in Eamonn's absence.

The former This Morning presenter has suffered several health problems in recent years and hurt his back when a chair gave way live on air last year.

Eamonn - who has also had spinal surgery and a double hip replacement - said at the time: "It was a bit of a shock for me because I’ve had a fall in my bathroom two weeks ago, which hospitalised me, and that hit me again right in the back."
