Helen Flanagan insisted on having her own bed before signing up for Celebrity Ex On The Beach.

The 35-year-old actress - who is best known for playing Rosie Webster in Coronation Street - has revealed that she made it a contractual condition that she would not share a bed with any of the male cast members on the fourth series of the MTV dating show.

Speaking at the launch of the new series, Helen told The Sun newspaper: "My thing is, being a mum I just knew I didn't want to share a bed with anyone.

"It did make me feel like the Queen. I was the only one on the cast who made sure beforehand that I definitely had a bed to myself. It was quite hilarious!"

The mum-of-three - who shares children Matilda, Delilah and Charlie with her ex-husband, sports star Scott Sinclair - said her kids will be watching the TV show, and that she actually sees her participation as an empowering move.

She said: "They'll definitely be watching - I've already promised Matilda that she can watch it. I am sure Delilah and Charlie will be watching it too.

"As a mum you often get a lot of judgement - especially when dads don't get it. So for that as a mum, I think it is really empowering to go on a celebrity dating show.

"I wouldn't say I am doing the show to show my children how I date but I am just a free spirit and I like to do my own thing."

Meanwhile, Helen previously revealed that she felt uncomfortable with some of her Coronation Street storylines.

The actress admitted that she now looks back on some of her storylines with some regret.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, Helen explained: "Was it morally right that I was expected to parade about in my knickers like some mad nymphomaniac when I was still just a teenager?

"Alison King, who plays Carla Connor, once kicked off in the green room, saying how disgusting it was that they were sexualising me when I was a young girl. I didn’t fully comprehend what she was talking about at the time. I do now. I get it."
