Helen Flanagan job-hunting amid Coronation Street return hopes
Helen Flanagan wants to keep the acting momentum going following her recent stint in pantomime, and a return to Coronation Street tops her wish list.
Helen Flanagan is hunting for her "next job" amid hopes Coronation Street bosses will call her about making a return.
Following her recent stint in pantomime, the 35-year-old actress wants to keep building on that momentum - with reprising her ITV soap alter ego Rosie Webster topping her wish list.
Helen told the Daily Star on behalf of Paddy Power: "I was in theatre for five months, and I’ve had a bit of downtime since then, but right now I’m looking for my next job.
"I really want to focus on acting. I did an amazing play for a couple of months and absolutely loved it, so I’d really like to continue building on that side of my career."
The blonde beauty played Rosie from 2000 until 2012. Helen returned in 2017 before she went on maternity leave the following year with her second child, seven-year-old daughter Delilah. Rosie left Weatherfield for a new life in Japan.
Coronation Street's bosses have not come calling about a possible return for Helen - also mum to daughter Matilda, 10, and son Charlie, five, whom she has with her 37-year-old ex-fiance, footballer Scott Sinclair.
She said: 'I really want to go back, but they just have not asked me.
"If the cobbles come calling, I would love to. I am literally just down the road, but sadly, they have not yet.”
But the star is also eyeing up a BBC soap - Waterloo Road.
Helen said: "I think I'd be good in Waterloo Road. I'd probably play either a mum or a teacher. I think that would suit me well.”
The entertainer loved her time on Coronation Street, with one of her biggest teenage storylines being involved with her Weatherfield High teacher John Stape (Graeme Hawley).
Helen said: "I honestly loved big storylines, the juicier the better."
But there was one storyline that she was not a fan of.
She recalled: "I remember not being happy when they made Rosie a window cleaner because it just didn't fit the character.
"I went to the producer and said, 'If Rosie's going to be a window cleaner, she's going to be a glamorous window cleaner.'
"So they gave me pink overalls with fluff on them. Everyone thought it was hilarious, but I was absolutely determined. Rosie would never wear normal overalls. I was the most glamorous window cleaner going."
