Katie Piper would train to be a police officer if her showbiz career suddenly ended.

The 42-year-old star spent four months working on the front line with Cambridgeshire Police for the 2019 Channel 4 series Famous and Fighting Crime, and Katie would be up for doing it full-time.

The Loose Women panellist told the new issue of Woman magazine: "I'm lucky. I'm doing something I enjoy and that I'm passionate about.

"I did something a while ago for Channel 4, where we volunteered for the police, and I joined them for four months, doing a proper night shift two days a week, 3pm to 3am, and I really enjoyed it.

"It made me think that if this career ever changed for me, I'd like to try training properly. I can see why people do it; it's fulfilling, and every day is different.

"It's the same thing I like about this job - I get to meet so many different people. But joining the police is such an act of service.

"PC Piper!"

Her Loose Women co-star Penny Lancaster, 55, joined the City of London Police in April 2021 as a Special Constable after appearing on Famous And Fighting Crime.

In February 2023, Penny told The Mirror: "It's roughly about 200 hours a year, which equates for myself to one duty a week in the City of London Square Mile, including bridges there.

"It's predominantly foot patrol, but I also get the opportunity to try other areas of policing out, like working in vehicles, working with the sniffer dogs and operations like the London Marathon, the Lord Mayor's Show and the Jubilee.

"I think being a mum and having the patience and the empathy to deal with teenagers in particular helps.

"A lot of the time you think policing, and you think crime, but you're dealing with victims."

Penny's 81-year-old husband, rocker Sir Rod Stewart - with whom she has sons Alastair, 20, and 14-year-old Aiden - supports her being a Special Constable, but he fears for her safety.

Penny - who was on duty during King Charles, 77, and 78-year-old Queen Camilla's coronation in May 2023 - said: "He's always supportive in whatever I like to venture into, and with this in particular, he saw the amount of enthusiasm and joy and reward I got from it.

"Of course, he worries about the natural risks involved, but with the support I've got around me, and letting him know when I'm back at the station and safe to head home, he's able to go back to sleep."
