Katie Piper admits staying married for 10 years has been a "struggle at times".

The Loose Women panellist tied the knot to carpenter Richard James Sutton in November 2015 - and she said the motivation of keeping up the practice of "day-to-day marriage" has "sometimes" disappeared.

Katie, 41, explained in the latest issue of New! magazine: "I haven't actually been thinking about it. In some ways, that shows it's flown by!

"But it's important to be honest, and staying married for 10 years has been a struggle at times.

"At first it's all romance, excitement and lust, but then the day-to-day of marriage is a practice you have to choose to keep doing.

"Sometimes your motivation goes, but the discipline hopefully remains."

The TV presenter tries not to share affectionate photos of her and Richard on social media because she does not want single people to feel upset about not being in a relationship.

Katie added: "I try not to be mushy on Instagram because I'm always conscious that I was single - not by choice - for a long time, and seeing other people loved-up was hard."

However, the writer and her husband - who have daughters Belle, 11, and Penelope, seven, together - do show their fondness for each other privately.

Katie said: "It's really important for the connection.

"I don't want my kids to think a relationship is a logistical, transactional thing.

"I want them to see us as a couple as well as parents."

The star would not see her husband and children for weeks if she took part in ITV's I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!

Katie recently revealed she has turned down the Australian-based jungle survival show in the past due to "medical conditions" that would exempt her from taking part in "most of" the gruelling Bushtucker Trials to win stars, which help earn meals for the famous campmates.

Katie recently told Woman magazine: "I love watching I'm A Celeb, and I'm a big fan.

"But I've got medical conditions that would exempt me from most of the trials, and I wouldn't enjoy having to sit out.

"I'm very all-or-nothing, so it wouldn't be right for me."
