Channel 4's Secret Genius 'returning for second series'
It has been claimed that Channel 4's Secret Genius is coming back for a second series.
Secret Genius is reportedly returning for a second series.
It has been claimed that Channel 4 bosses are delighted with the viewing figures for the game show, hosted by comedian Alan Carr and Countdown lexicographer Susie Dent.
A TV insider told The Sun newspaper's TV Biz column: "The bonus is that despite being one of the busiest men in showbusiness, Alan would probably be able to do a second series.
"He has five different projects on the go for the BBC, as well as three streamers, but Channel 4 bosses are confident he can return to do a sequel.
"Along with co-host Susie Dent, he's seen as a crucial part of the series' success."
At the time of publication, Channel 4 has yet to confirm if the programme has earned a second series.
Secret Genius - of which series one ends on Sunday (01.03.26) - reportedly had better ratings than Channel 4's biggest streaming hit of 2025, reality show Virgin Island, which raked in a series average of 1.4 million viewers per episode.
Alan and Susie's show sees contestants compete in a series of "immersive intelligence games" set by Mensa - an organisation for people with a high IQ - to find out who has incredible brain power.
The 49-year-old comic started shooting Secret Genius a day after he lied his way to victory on the BBC's The Celebrity Traitors in 2025.
And his experience on the ultimate game of backstabbing, deceit and betrayal allowed him to relate to the contestants on Secret Genius.
In January, Alan told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "I'd gone from this judging, stereotyping, underestimation, and there had been a lot of judging.
"You can't blame them because that's part of the game, isn't it? And then here we are, all these people who've been underestimated for their whole lives, by their family, by their employer, by their friends, by teachers.
"And I was like, 'Oh yeah, I sort of know how you feel, really.' Then watching them grow and the doubt melt away. I mean, it was so lovely. It's a warm, fun show."
Susie, meanwhile, loved how quickly Secret Genius' series one contestants bonded.
The 61-year-old star said: "There were some lovely recognition moments as they found their tribe - finally, some people that were like them.
"They'd always thought they were quite odd for remembering number plates or bus time tables, and finally they had found someone else who did exactly the same thing - that was lovely."
Away from Secret Genius, Alan is currently filming Amazon Prime Video's travelogue series, The F*** It List, and is set to start shooting his Disney+ property show, Castle Man.
His BBC shows, Picture Slam and Interior Design Masters, are returning for two more series.
And Alan and 55-year-old Amanda Holden - who fronted the BBC's Italian, Spanish and Greek job property renovation series - are teaming up for an in-development Netflix programme.
