Kate Garraway doesn't feel ready to start dating again.

The 58-year-old TV presenter lost her husband, Derek Draper, in January 2024, and Kate admits that she's still not ready to start meeting new people.

During an appearance on the Great Company podcast, Kate shared: "I wouldn't like to think that I'd never had romantic love in my life again.

"I think that would be rather a sad way to go through life wouldn't it? But, no, I'm not there yet. I don't know if anybody would want me, Jamie."

Kate then jokingly added: "Talk to your mates, find out if any of their dads are single, that's your task, Jamie."

The TV presenter also revealed that she has no intention of using a dating app.

Asked if she's ever tried using a dating app, Kate replied: "No, course not. I don't think I've ever really dated because everyone keeps asking me about dating and I don't think I've ever dated in that way that you guys do.

"I think it's an uncomfortable thing to do to go and meet someone you've never met. I just end up interviewing them and struggling to get a word in edgeways.

"I'm of the old school where you lived life, did things you loved and then met people along the way. But maybe that doesn't happen anymore."

Kate previously hosted a documentary about the final year of her husband's life.

Derek passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest, having previously battled long COVID, and Kate hailed Derek’s Story as a tribute to her late husband.

She said: "I am delighted that the film is a tribute to Derek, his incredible spirit and a tribute to all of those who fight on to make every second of life count, whatever is thrown at them."

Jo Clinton-Davis, the controller of factual at ITV, said at the time: "We can see in Derek Draper’s story the individual tragedy of a life devastated by illness, but also the wider perspective of how a family is impacted.

"Derek’s desire for his story to be filmed, along with Kate in their home, provides an insight into both their personal struggles as well highlighting the exhausting challenges of caring for a family member in the home within our care system."
