Gavin and Stacey's Mathew Horne and Joanna Page in new six-part Christmas series
Mathew Horne and Joanna Page star in How to Say It with Food - a six-part Christmas series.
Mathew Horne and Joanna Page have reunited for a new six-part Christmas series - a year after Gavin and Stacey ended.
The duo are back on screens after they bid farewell to their love interest alter egos, Gavin and Stacey Shipman, from the beloved BBC comedy series on Christmas Day in 2024.
Joanna and Mathew star in How to Say It with Food - which sees them solve some of the nation’s most common Christmas quandaries with food.
And the actor said it was a thrill to work with Joanna again.
Mathew, 47, added: "It’s become a Christmas tradition. We’re very familiar with the classic Christmas conundrums, but there’s nothing that some good food can’t fix. If I haven’t eaten it all first!
"Jokes aside, food really is the perfect way to show your love this festive season.”
The "funny" mini-series -created by Waitrose and will air on the supermarket's social media channels - is inspired by well-known Christmas antics, such as 64 per cent of family board games at Christmas ending in arguments.
Joanna, 48, and Mathew take on each issue to prove that delicious grub can alleviate tensions during the holidays - including Waitrose's No.1 Festive Turkey Pie, No.1 Mushroom Malbec and Port Wellington, and No.1 Party Polar Bao Buns.
And she loved being back with Mathew to create the How to Say It with Food episodes - which drop every Tuesday and Friday on Waitrose's social media channels in the lead up until December 19.
Joanna said: "You thought you’d seen the last of us! Well, we’re back and what fun we had. I love food, so it was such a treat working with Mat and Waitrose on this new mini-series.
"From a delicious turkey pie to a mouth-watering mushroom wellington, food is what brings people together over the festive season.”
Emily Angliss, Senior Social Marketing Manager at Waitrose, said Joanna and Mathew were the "perfect fit" to highlight "family, friendship and love at Christmas".
She added: "This Christmas, we’re celebrating the magical role that food plays in bringing people together and showcasing love.
"Our new series is a funny compilation of seasonal scenarios that bring this to life and inspire our customers to say it with food."
The series of social films follows the release of Waitrose’s blockbuster rom-com advert, The Perfect Gift, which stars actress Keira Knightley, 40, and 50-year-old comedian Joe Wilkinson.
