Lucy Beaumont thinks Alan Carr deserves a BAFTA for Celebrity Traitors
The Celebrity Traitors star Lucy Beaumont is leading calls for winner Alan Carr to get a BAFTA for his run on the show.
Lucy Beaumont thinks Alan Carr "should get a BAFTA" for his run on Celebrity Traitors.
The 42-year-old comedian was in the castle with the Chatty Man star, 49, for the BBC's first ever celebrity edition of the hit BBC show, and she has heaped praise on his performance as a Traitor in the tense game of bluff.
Lucy, who was a Faithful, told Closer magazine: "Watching him burst into tears at the end was really emotional.
"I wasn't expecting it, I think he just cracked because of the weight of it all.
"He should get a BAFTA, because at the beginning you wouldn't have thought he'd have won!"
The stand up comic admitted Alan's betrayal of real life friend Paloma Faith "got him off the hook", as no one suspected he would bump off his pal in the game.
Lucy added: "I don't think anyone else could ever play it that way. It was how he killed off Paloma... It got him off the hook the whole time.
"Everyone knew they were genuinely good friends - everyone seemed to have worked with one or two people, but they're really close on the outside, and Paloma didn't want to go home!
"We never thought he'd do that. Looking back now, I'm kicking myself a bit. I just never saw it coming!"
In the end, Alan - who also killed off Lucy in the game alongside fellow Traitors Jonathan Ross and Cat Burns - made it into the final three alongside Nick Mohammed and David Olusoga.
He was the sole winner of the game, pulling the wool over their eyes and taking home the £87,500 prize pot for children's charity Neuroblastoma UK.
However, Lucy made it clear that no one is holding a grudge.
She said: "It sounds like everyone in our group chat has forgiven Alan!
"I'm pleased he won - he deserved it. He played a blinder, by not playing a blinder!"
Meanwhile, the BBC confirmed this week that a second series of the Celebrity Traitors will air in 2026, following the third UK edition of the civilian series.
Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment at the BBC, said in a statement: “Studio Lambert have done an outstanding job as The Celebrity Traitors has well and truly captivated the nation, becoming a bona fide highlight of the year bringing record numbers of people together to enjoy every twist and turn. "In 2026 the doors of the castle will be opened again to welcome celebrity players to the game to see who can charm, who can scheme and ultimately who can survive in series two which promises to be just as unmissable as the first."
