The actress, 34, played Rosie Webster on the ITV soap for more than two decades, first appearing in 2000 as the daughter of Sally (played by Sally Dynevor) and Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) – but she left in 2012 but returned in 2017 before going on maternity leave in 2018.

She has not reprised the role since, and the mother-of-three now reflected on her time on the soap by admitting on Channel 5’s new daytime talk show ‘Vanessa’, hosted by Vanessa Feltz: “I was on the show from when I was like nine years old, and then from being age 14, I was all in.

“I was in the big storylines. I went back when I was about 27 when I just had Matilda, and then I had to leave because I fell pregnant with Delilah after about 18 months.

“But I think when I was younger, I always did like the big storylines, and when I look back, I was so lucky to be in that from such a young age.”

She added about Jack, 37, who plays David Platt in Coronation Street: “I used to love working with Jack. “We used to tutor together. I had quite a crush on Jack.”

Helen also discussed her views on keeping relationships alive.

When asked by Vanessa, 63, if she believed in sending intimate pictures to a partner, she said: “Definitely. I do think in the beginning of a relationship you do send your boyfriend sexy pictures and things like that. But when you get comfortable, you just don’t, you know that he loves you for just you. But I definitely think it’s a good idea to keep things fresh and exciting and fun.”

During her show, Vanessa conducted an Instagram survey asking viewers if they would send a “saucy” picture – with 71 percent saying they would not – prompting the host to joke they may be fibbing.
