Jordin Sparks is proud of herself for reaching out to Halle Berry about a film collaboration.
The 36-year-old singer has co-written a screenplay about menopause, and decided to approach Halle about the project via public and private messages on X, observing that the 59-year-old actress is the "right person to talk to about it".
Jordin - who won the sixth season of American Idol back in 2007 - wrote on X: "Hiiii @halleberry ! I sent you a dm because I wrote a screenplay about hormones and menopause and know you’d be the right person to talk to about it! Hope you’re having a great day! [heart emoji] (sic)"
She later followed up to defend the move, writing: “Always ask -even if it scares you a little! We’ve heard worse things than the word ‘no.’ It builds resilience and confidence. If you can’t take being told ‘no,’ you are going to have a tough time building character, courage and taking a shot at what you want! ‘Do or do not. There is no try.'”
Jordin is best known for her success in the music business, but she's also starred in various movies - including Sparkle, God Bless the Broken Road, and A Christmas Treasure - in the past.
The No Air hitmaker previously revealed via Instagram that she'd written a screenplay called Quiet Storm, writing: "Calling all female executives, studios and heads of development:
"QUIET STORM is a screenplay written by my fantastically talented writing partner @sjnovel and myself. It’s been a labor of love over the past 5 years! We have received some lovely feedback, coverage and are yearning for as much as we can get! I’m coming to you guys so we can leave no stone unturned and pursue every avenue, lane, opportunity afforded to us!!
"The dream is to get this read by every female run studio out there.”
She went on to tag a number of famous actresses including Drew Barrymore, Reese Witherspoon, Charlize Theron and Jennifer Aniston.
She added: "Please tag the film companies in the comments that you think should give us a read and female run studios we missed—we need as many eyes as we can get! This is such an important story and we can’t wait to share more! [heart emoji] (sic)"
