Production on next James Bond film ‘underway’
After massive delays and Amazon’s buy-up of the 007 franchise, production on the next James Bond film is reportedly underway.

Production on the next James Bond film is reportedly underway.
Following Amazon’s $1 billion acquisition of the franchise, sources say the movie has been “fast-tracked” – and is being dubbed ‘Bond 26’.
It was revealed last month Amazon MGM had taken full creative control of the 007 film franchise after the company struck a deal with its long-time producers Michael G Wilson, 82, and Barbara Broccoli, 63. While the pair remain co-owners of the franchise, Amazon now has control over all future productions – a decision that has sparked concern among fans it will spawn a flood of “content” featuring 007.
According to The Sun, the next instalment in the film series is expected to have a budget of £250 million, in line with the cost of Daniel Craig's final outing as 007 in ‘No Time to Die’.
The newspaper reported the film is due to be released by the end of 2027, with a source stating: “The Bond bosses had already proposed broad plots and reboot ideas. The writers' rooms are being assembled in the hope of recouping their investment ASAP.”
Bond films have traditionally been released in October or November.
The search for Daniel’s replacement has intensified in recent weeks, with actors including Aaron Taylor-Johnson, 33, Harris Dickinson, 27, and James Norton, 38, rumoured to be in contention to fill his shoes as 007.
According to Puck, producers David Heyman, 62, known for his work on the ‘Harry Potter’ films, and Amy Pascal, 65, who produced Tom Holland’s ‘Spider-Man’ films, are in talks to develop the project.
In March 2024, reports emerged Aaron Taylor-Johnson had secured the role, but the actor distanced himself from the claims, stating: "I don’t feel like I need to have a future drawn out for me. I feel like, whatever’s drawn out for me, I can f****** do better."
Amazon's acquisition of the Bond franchise is expected to lead to spin-off projects, though a source stated the company “knows fans want and expect a movie" and "wants filming to be done by the end of next year”.
