Teyana Taylor recalls 'emo era' and her love for the red carpet
Teyana Taylor has reflected on her past style and a passion for 'dressing up' on the red carpet.
Teyana Taylor has recalled her "emo era" looking like a member of Blink-182.
The One Battle After Another star - who is a nominee at this weekend's Oscars ceremony - has reflected on her love for red carpets over award season, and her passion for getting all dressed up.
Asked about her first red carpet, she told WWD: "It might have been my emo era, looking like I was in Blink-182.
"But then you gotta remind yourself, back then that was where it was at.”
Nowadays, she has found herself "calling dibs" at fashion events, which she did at Chanel artistic director Matthieu Blazy's show this week.
Teyana said: "I was like, I need this, I need that, I need that thigh boot. I just love fabric. I love getting dressed. I love it all.”
She added: "That's the fun part."
Meanwhile, her five-year-old daughter Rue has shown early signs of getting into the fashion world, after she stepped in to held fix the train of her dress at the Golden Globe Awards.
She said: "She’s like, I want to come with you. I need to make sure the dress is perfect. I really think Rue is going to be a designer.”
Teyana picked up the Best Supporting Actress prize at the Golden Globes, and she recently admitted she's a "big dreamer" as she chases the same accolade at the Academy Awards this weekend.
Speaking on Entertainment Weekly's Awardist podcast, she said: "You never know which one of them dreams is gonna become a reality. So I've always been a big dreamer.
"I dream about everything, all the possibilities, even just bucket list stuff. Just growing up watching SNL, who would've ever thought that I would've been hosting SNL in this same year that I'm like nominated for a Oscar. Like, I used to be that little girl watching the Oscars.
"To now be in that space where I'm probably the one that another little girl sitting at home is watching me or saying that she loves my dress, or saying that she loves my speech, like, oh my God, I'm getting chills talking about that.
"It's a lot in the best way, you know? I'm so overwhelmed with joy and gratitude."
