Barry Sloane hints at 'different energy' to Captain Price in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 voice actor Barry Sloane has revealed that there is a "different energy" to his alter ego Captain John Price in the latest title in the first-person shooter franchise.
Barry Sloane says Captain John Price has a "different energy entirely" in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.
The 45-year-old actor once again lends his voice to the character in the latest installment of the first-person shooter franchise and has revealed how things have changed since his alter ego murdered General Shepherd in a post-credits cutscene in the 2023 game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz at a press event for the game in London, Sloane said: "It's a different, a different energy entirely. I mean, he's disavowed effectively, you know, once you've shot a member of the US military inside The Pentagon. There's not much you're gonna be able to do on the work front.
"So, you know, he's a man with a particular set of skills, so he's not going to go and get a job at Home Depot. You know, he's gonna try and make himself useful in the best way he can. And so, that's what he's done.
"We pick his story up. He's been in New York for a while keeping underground. He gets a phone call from a good friend, with some intel and we pick up his story from that."
The Call of Duty franchise is set to come to the big screen and Sloane feels that Captain Price is a role that "any actor worth the salt" would want to play on the big screen.
He said: "I've loved every part of getting to play Captain Price, and it's a role any actor worth the salt would want to play and actor that plays them better give their heart and soul, and better respect the fans, and the legacy of the game, and not just do it because they get a paycheque, would be my thinking."
This is the fifth Call of Duty game in which Sloane has voiced Captain Price and he says that working with the team behind the popular franchise keeps him coming back.
Asked why he keeps returning, the House of the Dragon actor said: "The people, you know we've become a family now, you work with a team for almost a decade of your life and your career, you know. And it better be good people.
"And they keep finding interesting ways for me to play the guy, this time is a different vibe entirely, to where we've been before. So yeah, changes in the character and the people that I work with every time."
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is released on all platforms on October 23.
