Owen Armstrong is back! Ian Puleston-Davies to return as builder in Coronation Street
Ian Puleston-Davies is returning to Coronation Street as Owen Armstrong and the character is set for a showdown with Gary Windass, the father of his grandson Jake and ex-boyfriend of his daughter Izzy.
Ian Puleston-Davies is returning to Coronation Street as Owen Armstrong after a decade away from the ITV soap.
Owen was last seen on the cobbles in April 2015 when he announced he was leaving, after his relationship with Anna Windass broke down and his business collapsed thanks in part to villainous murderer Pat Phelan.
Own went to Portugal before settling in Scotland.
Now, Owen is coming back to Weatherfield to help his daughter Izzy and grandson Jake he makes it very clear he blames Gary Windass - Jake's dad - for his family’s misfortune and announces he is moving back to live with them.
Gary - played by Mikey North - could be facing months behind bars for helping Sarah Platt cover up Theo’s murder and now he has to deal with Owen on the warpath for him and his building business.
Commenting on his return Ian said: "I can’t wait to pick up where I left off 10 years ago! It’s brilliant to be back and to get stuck into a cracking storyline. Owen’s back and he’s still angry!”
Welcoming back Ian as Owen, Coronation Street Producer Kate Brooks said: “We're thrilled that Ian is back, and Owen brings a ton of drama. As he joins forces with an unlikely alliance, he wreaks havoc on the Street, and his relationship with Gary is severely put to the test. Needless to say, there's never a dull moment when Owen's around.”
Owen and Gary share a long history in Weatherfield.
As well as Gary and his daughter Izzy - played by Cherylee Houston - raising a son together, Owen previously was in a relationship with Gary's mother Anna Windass.
Owen, who owned the Builder's Yard, also employed Gary when he was together with Anna.
Owen's life was ruined by Pat Phelan (Connor McIntyre) after he invested in a project that was a scam.
Pat blackmailed Owen and left him financially ruined, forcing him to declare bankruptcy and sell his business as well as coercing Anna into having sex with him to try and save Owen.
