John Book - Witness
Considering the actor won his only Oscar for his performance in the movie, it’s fair to say that ‘Witness’ is one of Harrison’s best efforts.
The 1985 movie sees the actor play police officer John Book, who, after swearing to protect a young Amish boy Samuel who is the witness to a murder and his mother Rachel, is folded into their culture and tradition, and develops a cautious romance with her.
Harrison won the 1986 Academy Award for Best Actor, and says the secret behind his victory was that he was playing a “real” character who was completely believable and sympathetic.
