Despite having a Bachelor of Arts degree in theater, Schwimmer felt pigeonholed to roles in sitcoms after 'Friends’. It wasn’t until one year after he wrapped up filming for the show that Schwimmer branched out into stage work and made his West End debut as the lead in ‘Some Girls’.

Then, in 2006, he made his Broadway debut in ‘The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial’.
