The Coldplay frontman developed blinding, agonising tinnitus during his early 20s, which left a painful, permanent ringing in his ears that threatened to derail his music career before it even truly began.

After seeking urgent professional help when the condition became utterly unbearable, the Paradise singer began strictly wearing custom-molded protective earplugs during rehearsals and global tours.

He now warns younger fans: "Looking after your ears is unfortunately something you don't think about until there's a problem."
