Digital Underground and the solo breakthrough

Tupac first broke into the music industry as a roadie and backup dancer for the alternative hip-hop group Digital Underground, stealing the spotlight with a memorable verse on 1991's Same Song. Later that same year, he launched his solo career with his debut album 2Pacalypse Now - which was praised for its lyrics, storytelling and political messages.
