Whitney Houston
Davis famously discovered a 19-year-old Whitney Houston performing at a New York club in 1983, hand-picking her career-defining material. Under his wing, she launched historic chart-toppers like Saving All My Love for You, I Wanna Dance with Somebody, and her iconic anthem I Will Always Love You.
Tragically, Houston died from an accidental drowning in a Beverly Hilton hotel bathtub at age 48 in 2012, a devastating loss that occurred just hours before she was scheduled to attend Davis’s legendary pre-Grammy gala.
