Sam Cooper (2009-divorced 2018)
Lily Allen’s most significant relationship began in 2009, when she met builder Sam Cooper.
Their relationship moved fast with Sam proposing on Christmas Day 2010 during a trip to Indonesia in Bali. The couple tied the knot six months later at St James the Great church in Cranham, Gloucestershire. They went on to have two daughters, Ethel Mary, born in November 2011, and Marnie Rose, who arrived in January 2013. However, their happily ever after was anything but. It was a tumultuous relationship marked by devastating loss. Allen had been expecting a baby boy, George, due in early 2011, who was tragically stillborn.
Opening up about her trauma, she said: “It’s something that I still haven’t dealt with. I never will get over it. I have dealt with it, you know, as being at one with it. But it’s not something that you get over. I held my child and it was really horrific and painful – one of the hardest things that can happen to a person.”
The pair separated in 2016 and officially divorced in 2018. Today, they share custody of their daughters.
