In 1994, Hogan signed with rival promotion WCW, instantly raising the company’s profile.

His arrival led to a string of big matches and helped WCW compete with WWE during the early days of the Monday Night Wars.

In July 1994, Hogan captured the WCW World Heavyweight Championship in his first match by defeating "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair.
