Return to WWE and epic match with The Rock

In 2002, Hogan returned to WWE after being away for nine years.

He returned as the leader of the nWo and faced Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in a dream "icon v icon" match at WrestleMania X8 in Toronto.

The crowd’s deafening reaction turned the match into one of the most iconic moments in wrestling history, with the fans choosing to cheer villainous Hogan over the heroic Rock.

The Rock later said: “Sharing that ring with Hogan was like standing across from Babe Ruth.”

Jerry Lawler famously said on commentary "we'll never see Tyson and Ali, we'll never see Babe Ruth and Barry Bonds but we are gonna witness The Rock and The Hulkster”.
