Considering Wicked won the Oscar for Best Costume Design, it won’t come as a shock to hear that outfit design was at the forefront of the movie’s production.

All in all, over 1,000 costumes for both Wicked and its upcoming sequel Wicked: For Good were made, with Elphaba sporting 24 looks across both movies, and Glinda having 25.

The Good Witch’s costumes were particularly impressive, with Glinda’s pink bubble dress she wears before the song No One Mourns The Wicked taking over 200 hours to make and requiring 137 pattern pieces.

In total, the gown had upwards of 20,000 beads!
