The Lighthouse

In director Robert Eggers’ haunting psychological thriller ‘The Lighthouse’, Robert Pattinson delivers a mesmerising performance as Ephraim Winslow, a novice lighthouse keeper.

Set on a remote New England island in the 1890s, the 2019 picture chronicles the escalating tension between Winslow and his seasoned, superstitious superior, Thomas Wake (Willem Dafoe), as isolation and mysterious occurrences drive them toward madness.

Reflecting on the film’s unique tone, Pattinson said he believed ‘The Lighthouse’ was “100 per cent a comedy,” given the dark humour that has been woven throughout the story’s descent into insanity.
